Czechin' out Prague

On Sunday, December 6th, Angelica and I flew into Prague, Czech Republic. This trip was possible thanks to our friend Tom, who was studying there. He let us stay with him for the two nights we were there. Tom gave us directions ahead of time from the airport to his place, and we found it pretty much no problems. The escalators in the Florenc metro station were hilariously fast, and Angelica and I were cracking up as we rode them again and she tried to take a video of it! Once we got outside, I could notice differences between Prague and the other European cities I had been too. (Prague is in central Europe, and was the farthest East I traveled). We found Tom's place and all went out for Chinese food and beer. Afterward we just hung out in the room, drank wine, and talked, which was really fun. Angelica and I went to bed pretty early so we could get an early start at sightseeing the next day.
Monday, December 7th: The three of us had breakfast at McDonald's before Tom went to class. The bathroom in this McDonald's was crazy! It had some type of black light/neon mood lighting. Angelica and I went to Starbucks before meeting up for our free tour with the New Europe group. Our tour was great! The tour guide, Ruth, was from England, really cute, and enthusiastic. We learned so much that we never would have learned otherwise and saw the major sights. Highlights include the astronomical clock and the bridge. She also told us how Hitler wanted the city to be extinct of the 'race' of Jews. I didn't know how much Prague was affected by the Holocaust. After the tour we went to the Christmas market, which had a lot of food, souvenirs, ornaments, etc. I did not really like the food I got. :/ I ordered a hot dog at a stand, but it was definitely NOT a hot dog.. more like some kind of weird sausage. Then I ordered chicken and didn't really like that either. Oh well... Then we met up with Tom and went to this really cool bar called the Bed Lounge for happy hour. The bar had a very calm atmosphere: you take your shoes off, relax, and sit back on the white couches. Everything is white and there are lights that change colors. The rest of the evening consisted of me taking a nap while Angelica finished a paper for school, us eating pasta for dinner that Tom cooked, drinking beer at the bar next to Tom's building, walking all the way to the bridge in hopes of seeing the castle lit up (which wasn't), and getting a late night snack at McDonald's.
Tuesday, December 8th: We got Starbucks for breakfast, and I spent the exact remainder of my coronas/crowns (Prague currency) on postcards, a Russian doll magnet for my mom, and the bus ticket back to the airport. Angelica and I peaced out of Prague. It was a fun, short trip and the city was very pretty. THANK YOU TOM for giving us the opportunity to see another place and showing us a good time!!
